Liss Cricket Club

Liss Cricket Club 1st XI squad

1st XI

Captain : Toby Austin

Vice Captain : Shaun Blanks

Shaun had a good season with the ball in 2016, and was the leading wicket taker. Shaun has a huge amount of potential and keeping a calm head for him is key this year. No doubt he will be a player to watch with both bat and ball if he can channel his aggression in to runs and wickets.
Chris Allcock
Chris is Liss CC through and through and gives his all each week. You know what your going to get when Chris is at the crease with an ability to score runs quickly and change an innings. The defensive side of his game may need some work but with solid players around him his aggressive tactics can play to Liss's advantage. He always gives 100% in the field and will never give up the chase. Chris is team manager in 2017 and will look to organise the team for Captain Jack.
Lawrence Baker
Lawrence is a greatly valued member of Liss Cricket Club. A bowler who has taken hundreds of wickets over the years will be looking to help the 2nd XI with handfuls of wickets again. Another successful year in 2017 saw him bag 11 league wickets at an average of 19.91, conceding a, as usual, miserly 2.61 runs an over. A talented and very consistent bowler with the ability to change the game during his spells with the ball. The question is can Lawrence's ankle take another year of his unconventional fielding style?
Ian Brownlee
Ian is a great player to have in any side. He is a solid wicket keeper and is a fantastic club man. His middle order anchor innings can be worth their weight in gold when all around him have lost their heads. Ian has also been uncovered as a great 6-a-side bowler.
Liam Charles
Liam is the gentle giant of Liss. He has great ability with the ball and will look to increase his wicket tally in 2017. His energy and encouragement is good for the team and will always be around at the end of an innings to slap it around.
Daniel Dillon-Thiselton
Dan has joined in 2017 from I'anson side Lurgashall. His spin is a great asset to the team and has given the team something different. He has also brought his I'anson batting brain with him and can stay out there for hours without scoring a run to allow fireworks at the other end.
Jacob Hedicker
Jacob was a regular in 2016. A bowler with great potential played for the club as a colt and is now a key player for the first team. Jacob is improving with every game and his bowling is really helping Liss push forward. Jacob is no mug with the bat either and can score crucial lower order runs with his variety of hockey strokes.
Gavin Kemp
Gavin is a hard hitting batsman that can tear apart an opposition attack. Gavin will be looking to really impose himself this year and keep the opposition on the back foot scoring plenty of runs on the way. Taking over as keeper this years gives him the opportunity to get his trampoline hands out.
Phil Moore
Phil had a good season in 2016. A batsmen on the up, Phil is improving year on year and will be looking to build on his run total in 2016. He has great ability in the field and has the safest hands in the team. This year he is also being let loose with the ball and if he can pitch it in the batsmen's half he will be a threat. Phil's confidence is growing with every game and will be a great asset to the club.
Jake Southam
In recent years Jake has transformed himself into a hard hitting batsman playing the David Warner type role; opening the batting and attempting to get the team off to as quick a start as possible. Deceptively agile and nimble Jake is an excellent all round fielder who on his day can produce breathtaking pieces of fielding.
